Dr. David Lincoln has combined history, science, and photography. He is interested in epic journeys, and has followed the Oregon and California trails, as well as the Lewis and Clark route.
In each case, he read the history extensively to discover the sites and experiences of the journeys.
He sought images that would provide the “look and feel” of the journey.
For Lewis and Clark, he also took photographs that demonstrated the extensive land use changes that have occurred over the past 200 years.
His photographs have appeared in several museum exhibits.
He and Rupert began a collaborative effort on the history of Charles Darwin and modern evolution and genomics that has evolved into Darwin’s Brave New World, a miniseries that is a co-production of Canadian and Australian television, with additional producers. The program integrates a dramatic re-creation of key events of Darwin’s life with modern science segments that demonstrate the recent advances in genetics and genomics. David identified many of the leading scientists who will be featured in the program for the modern science component. Rupert kept the focus on developing the story and how it can be enhanced by the modern science.
